this was like 10 years ago now.
high school. i'd finish sport with no money and no way home, and laurie would come get me in her car. we'd drive to her parents' place and play wii until it got late.
that was it, but it happened a lot.
years later a friend told me out of nowhere, there'll never be anyone else who does that for you. he was right, and that's what got me. nobody comes to pick you up after sport anymore, nobody has parents with a wii and a free afternoon.
someone drove across town for a broke kid every week and never once called it a favor.
